Services
Island Time Therapeutic Services offers individual counselling in Campbell River and online across British Columbia. Every service below is built on the same foundation: kind, non-judgmental, client-led work, with EMDR at the centre.
The Island Time Approach
The work starts with understanding your wants and needs. Using the stages of change as a map, we build a plan that gives you clear information and real choices. That plan can include EMDR to process the memories and triggers keeping old patterns alive — alongside CBT, hypnotherapy, and other tools that address the thought patterns underneath. The goal is lasting change, not just coping.
EMDR therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps the brain process stuck memories so they lose their charge. Colm is an EMDRIA-trained EMDR therapist, and EMDR is the lead approach at Island Time for trauma, PTSD, and the memories and triggers underneath addiction and anxiety.
Trauma and PTSD
Trauma recovery at your pace. We work on the experiences that still run the show, building safety and choice first, then processing what is ready to move.
Anxiety and depression
Practical, evidence-informed counselling for anxiety and depression, combining EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy, and hypnotherapy where they fit.
Addiction and recovery
Addiction support the Island Time way: EMDR-first. Rather than treating the behaviour alone, we work on the trauma memories and triggers that drive it, alongside stages-of-change planning, so change is realistic and lasting. Colm holds graduate qualifications in Addiction Studies from McMaster University.
Hypnotherapy
Board-certified hypnotherapy, integrated with counselling where it helps: habits, confidence, stress, and the patterns talk therapy alone can miss.
Stress, transitions, and wellbeing
Support through life transitions, burnout, and stress. Colm is also a stress management consultant through IACT.
ADD/ADHD and FASD
Years of experience supporting clients and families living with ADD/ADHD and fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).
Parenting counselling
Parenting support grounded in trauma-informed practice, for parents who want to understand what is underneath behaviour, theirs and their children’s.
